It’s almost as if the horror show that the Ann Wheeler board foisted upon the Village Place community wasn’t enough. Now the supervisors that remain from that time are looking to add even more harm by possibly entertaining the Chuck Kuhn Gardner property development of almost 3,700,000 sq. ft of Data Center development. And in addition to ruining more of Village Place, they want to spread the impacts to Somerset Crossing as well.
HIS bad project is ONLY possible if enough Supervisors vote YES.

Do we really need to enumerate ALL the reasons to say NO? Every project ANY local board of supervisors approves is responsible for the continuing impacts on YOUR life.
It is hypocritical for supervisors to rail against the harm of the not-yet-approved Nokesville Transmission line, or the rising utility costs, and the harms to our air and water, all of which are entirely driven by operating data center campuses — and then approve MORE data centers.
Supervisors may claim this approval isn’t for the Gardner data center project, but even the mailer sent out connects the two.
Once again, we will make this crystal clear, with NO ambiguity: Approving this CPA sends a signal that this Board WILL approve Chuck Kuhn’s Gardner Project and it WILL include new substations, a new transmission line, and HUNDREDS of diesel generators, IN ADDITION to multiple new data centers buildings.
Does it matter Dominion Energy has a 24 year wait for power hook up? Nope. Because the power of magical thinking is very strong when it comes to greed. Because now it’s possible to hook up on-site gas turbines. But the health and welfare impacts only compound. Read about that in the article below. When the onsite gas turbines fail, diesel generators become their power source.

“Pirio, a board member of the Trailside Homeowners Association, says the community was never told the campus would include its own power plant. “The only reason we found out that there was a power plant there is when we began to hear all this loud noise,” he said. “We feel very deceived.”
“That power plant has made VA2 the center of a scientific fight over what the data center boom means for the air Northern Virginians breathe.”
So, you may be wondering: What could possibly be behind bringing this project back now?

AND YET ANOTHER DONATION BOMBSHELL – $50,000 to Supervisor Vega.
This is a total gut punch to the community that had once depended on Supervisor Vega for principled land use decisions — UNTIL her recent approval to support the budget busting housing sprawl CPAs into the rural crescent.

After all these contributions, what does Chuck want the supervisors to approve?
We snipped the below accurate depiction of what is REALLY happening to this area if Chuck Kuhn’s pay-to-play project is approved. Those four white buildings are the Village Tech Park AWS campus that is only partially operating — so bad that the JLARC report used that complex as an example of what’s wrong with data center development in Virginia. And those massive gray rectangles surrounded by red clay? Those are NTT hyperscale 350,000 sq ft buildings, still being constructed.
The rest are neighborhoods, full of families that didn’t sign up for this devastation.
See that green area and the ACTUAL affordable housing provided by Hillwood Mobile Home/ Camping Park. THAT is where the 3.6 MILLION sq of data centers are proposed. Almost TWICE the footprint of the buildings currently there.
The below outdated map from the application does not adequately show the total blight this BOARD has foisted on Prince William residents, but in particular, on the people living directly adjacent (application area outlined in blue).
Read the white box on the application’s map and the fine print: “NOTE: Final design, location, size of buildings, (including the combination of buildings) equipment yard, security booths, SWM facilities and parking shown within the developable area are subject to changes during final engineering and site plan review, and as allowed in accordance with the proffers.” The map provided in the application is truly a vague depiction of what might be built.
Don’t be fooled by the “natural space area” highlighted in the application map. That is a critical stream for North Fork and requires significant buffers.
Nothing makes up for the harm this project will bring to our community.
ENOUGH!
Approving this project WILL require more energy infrastructure. Approving this project WILL bring more industrial blight.
We are SICK OF IT.
Below is an analysis from PWC Staff regarding the Gardner application, and we know, with NO DOUBT: This is another project that will require significant energy infrastructure.
In spite of our efforts to redevelop AWAY from the industrial era that once included Atlas Works, what Supervisors Boddye, Angry, and Bailey have done with their votes on projects in the Gainesville District, is to take this area back to the beginning of this century. And it is wrong.
What’s worse, we warned them when they voted to approve both the Village Tech Park and the NTT complexes that all in Prince William County would suffer the consequences of their decision. But they don’t care what they do to adversely affect those who live on the western end of the county – or the eastern end – or beyond, throughout the rest of Virginia.
Have our Board members who voted for these terrible projects in 2021 learned anything??

Honestly, haven’t some of our supervisors done enough harm? What they did to the Village Place community is an abomination, and that campus isn’t even fully operational until the Daves Store Transmission line and Gas Insulated Substation are complete.
The power and water crises we are facing are a direct result of local supervisors not heeding our concerns or our warnings.
