BREAKING NEWS: QTS Propaganda “Town Hall” April 18

You can’t make this stuff up!

(Show up Tuesday night to protest! – see below)
(Send this easy email to QTS leadership)

QTS, possibly through some back channel, has been allowed last minute to plan their Digital Gateway propaganda campaign at Bull Run Middle School next Tuesday, April 18 – on the same night as the 6th grade open house!

Who is responsible for allowing QTS to reserve this space on the same night?

You can’t convince this community that industrialization is somehow environmental stewardship or preservation of Hallowed Ground. You can’t convince this community that industrialization of our drinking water supply won’t impair its quality.

Clearly, given the evidence of glossy professional mailers delivered just yesterday, some even addressed to children and not the homeowner, this circus has been planned for at least a week, and yet no one in the community was notified until Friday.

None of us knew – but Chair Ann Wheeler did.  Read the screen shot from Friday’s Wheeler Report.  Not only does she repeat the propaganda of QTS, but she also includes a video for your viewing pleasure.  How long has she known this meeting was planned?  Is she complicit?

Residents from both the Gainesville and Brentsville districts feel as though we are under assault.  Who is on our side, defending our interests? Certainly NOT Chair Wheeler. The Data Center proliferation she is pushing is spreading like a voracious infestation, threatening to harm homes, schools, air quality, water quality, National Parks, and even the reliability of the power grid.

In just the last week:  Data Centers, temporarily, have been denied carte blanche to run their dirty diesel generators to provide their power; and the Occoquan Reservoir tested positive for high levels of “forever chemicals”:

https://www.npr.org/local/305/2021/03/10/975620689/high-levels-of-forever-chemicals-detected-in-northern-virginia-drinking-water.

To add millions of sq. ft. of impervious surfaces from data center proliferation – causing incalculable runoff into the streams which are the tributaries of this already impaired water resource – is beyond foolish.  It is unthinkable.

And we want the community to understand, this data center blight is not occurring in just a small fraction of what remains of the rural crescent – the rural area that protects our environment, our drinking water supply, our remaining affordable land and housing, and is our best weapon against climate change.  Now the data center proliferation threat has spread to Sanders Lane and beyond, threatening to consume ANOTHER 2,300 acres.

In addition to this monstrosity, Amazon Web Services wants to build massive data centers in Bristow, once again outside the overlay:  110 ft. high, adjacent to a flood plain AND Broad Run Stream, a tributary to the Occoquan!

WHAT is becoming of this beautiful county, of the small ranch-style homes, of the wildlife, of the very land that cleanses our water before it runs into the Occoquan Reservoir?

We will become a sea of concrete buildings, transmission lines, and substations, as far as the eye can see from the beautiful Bull Run Mountains.

Greed and power are as old as time, but so is the antidote.  Citizens of goodwill and decency must stand in courageous opposition to this indecency.

Dear Citizens, you can no longer stand idly by, believing this does not impact you.  Like an earthquake in the ocean, this tsunami is building.  NO ONE will be left unscathed — unless we stop this insanity now.

–> Please send this click to send email to QTS and their Corporate owner, Blackstone, with PWC elected leaders cc’d.

–> Please stand in opposition on Tuesday night to this indecent takeover of our beautiful county as we defend our homes, our water, our air, our national parks, our grid, our children’s future, and most of all, our right to life and the pursuit of happiness within our own homes and communities.
