Richmond – Bought and Paid For?

We want to be very clear: citizens ARE having an impact.

Our packed bus to Richmond, your emails, and your phone calls all have Amazon (and the data center industry) on the run.  So much so, Amazon felt compelled to offer up 35 BILLION dollars in exchange for more State incentives.

Yes, you read that correctly:  WE get to give THEM more free stuff, for the privilege, provided to them by our state leaders, for them to consume our clean air, our clean water, and to ruin our American history – for a pay off!

Let us ask YOU the citizens: are YOU willing to trade off your quality of life, your childrens’ future?  For turning this beautiful state into a data center haven of concrete boxes, transmission lines, and substations anywhere and everywhere, with no guardrails or accountability?

Richmond appears to be selling us out.  In the early pre-dawn hours this morning, a plan had been hatched, unbeknownst to Senator Chap Petersen, to move his bill SB1078 into a totally different committee for review, and possible vote.

Obviously, we are experiencing a pattern.  All the nefarious stuff seems to be happening before the sun rises.

What does this tell us?  It tells us that our message is resonating; and that Amazon and the data center industry are trying to prevent the passage of this bill.

We have a newsflash for all of them:

Citizens across the Commonwealth will be heard.

Citizens across Virginia are not giving in – or giving up.

Governor Glenn Youngkin’s phone number:  804-786-2211.  Our communities are not for sale.

Please make a donation now to the Coalition so that we can continue even more effective activities to stop this destruction of the place we call home.  We can’t do all this without your financial and personal support!
