Stand Up to Corruption – Stop the Destruction

September 13 – Rally

September 14 – Planning Commission Digital Gateway vote

The Coalition wants the entire Prince William County community to understand the totality of the changes that are proposed – countywide.

We recognize that data center proliferation, their associated impacts and massive energy infrastructure needs, has rightly gained the bulk of the attention. We do deserve to understand how the projected 162 MILLION SQ. FT. of DATA CENTER DEVELOPMENT (as outlined by the County’s outside paid consultant) is sustainable within our county.  Their report needs to be thoroughly explained.  By comparison, Loudoun County’s Data Center Alley will be built out at 33 Million sq. ft.

But in addition to data center proliferation, unrestrained residential development is proposed countywide.

We want to make sure that residents countywide, not just in the rural crescent, but all the way from east to west across the county, also understand that the 2040 Comprehensive Plan will additionally insert tens of thousands of new residential units THROUGHOUT the county.

When we ask Planning how many housing units are being proposed in the Comprehensive Plan update, they can’t, or won’t, answer the question.  Is it 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 or 100,000?  What will the impacts be on our already overburdened school system?

We all deserve to understand the totality of all of the different proposed developments (from data centers and residential units) and their impacts on our watershed, on our roads, on our parks, on our remaining green spaces, on our carbon emission footprint, and on our schools!

Chair Ann Wheeler’s response, to our concerns regarding the intensity and number of changes being made all at the same time, is to threaten to shut down citizen participation.  We reject her authoritarian style of leadership.

Chair Ann Wheeler’s response, to our concerns about water quality, is to say “I am so tired of hearing about water.”

Chair Ann Wheeler’s response, to concerns about the integrity of our National Parks, first raised by the Park Superintendents and then followed by over a dozen conservation and preservation organizations, is to ignore all of their questions and objections.

Chair Ann Wheeler’s response, to our concerns about turning this beautiful county into a concrete jungle of data centers, noise, and transmission lines, is to suggest that we residents are “uncomfortable” with “transition.”

Chair Ann Wheeler’s response, to a recall petition arising because of her clear financial conflicts of interest, is to accuse us of being against her concept of “progress.”  She is personally benefiting from a multitude of data center stock purchases which she made after she was elected.  Her financial gains will be our losses.

Citizen outcry is growing.  We are democrats, republicans, independents.  We represent a diverse citizenry from probably every ethnic, racial, and religious background.

We will not be silenced, we will not be gaslit, we will not stop sharing the facts.

Ann Wheeler plans to silence citizens.

We are ONE Prince Willam, and we will not be duped or manipulated.

We do not oppose data centers.  We do not oppose new housing units. What we DO want is smart growth.  For both types of development, citizens have a right to influence the process.  Citizens are not simply bystanders to all these proposals.  Your. voices. matter.

Urbanization of the entire county is upon all of usYou can take action now.

Send Emails to the Planning Commission prior to their Sept. 14 vote on the Digital Gateway proposal

In the coming weeks, Ann Wheeler is pushing multiple overwhelming changes county-wide.  She has opened up the “buffet table” and developers are racing to gorge on all they can “eat” – with no restrictions.  We know that you are being asked to give so much of your personal time.  This is not our doing – this is the master plan of Ann Wheeler.  But – none of us can sit idly by.  The first one coming up is next week! – the Planning Commission vote on the Digital Gateway.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to vote next Wednesday, September 14, on the Digital Gateway proposal.

Use any, or all, of these easy-to-send emails to ask the Planning Commissioners to vote to deny this proposal.
