News from Pete Candland’s office

Thank you for writing to Supervisor Candland about the proposed Dominion Power lines through your neighborhood.  The Supervisor has asked me to provide more information for you.

The news of the power lines is disturbing and we have heard from many residents along the proposed routes.  Dominion is exploring several routes in our area as represented on the attached map.  No route has been selected as a preferred route.  Dominion will submit plans to the State Corporation Commission (SCC) in early 2015 and then the SCC will take public comments.  Here is a link to see how this process moves forward:https://www.dom.com/library/domcom/pdfs/electric-transmission/haymarket/haymarket-scc-process.pdf.

Supervisor Candland wrote a letter to Dominion Power stating that he will only support the power lines that will originate in Gainesville and be partially buried along I-66.  He is keenly aware of the citizen’s concerns and is actively working to represent them to Dominion Power.  In addition, we suggest that you write to both Dominion Power (powerline@dom.com) and the SCC (sccinof@scc.virginia.gov) and voice your objections to the proposed routes that run along the mountains and close to your neighborhood.  The Supervisor will be watching this closely and will advocate on behalf of the residents in this area.

Kindly, Brooke
