Virginia Senate panel nixes key data center incentive – Washington Business Journal
In a statement, Sen. Scott Surovell, D-Mount Vernon, said the incentive has become a “blank check for the world’s most profitable corporations.”
The tax incentive dates to 2008. At the time it was projected to cost the state less than $2 million a year, though that was before the explosion of artificial intelligence and the cloud, which has driven the demand for data centers to unforeseen heights.”
