Data Center Reform Lobby Day Tickets, Mon, Feb 9, 2026 at 7:30 AM | Eventbrite
It is impossible to miss the avalanche of bad news for the Data Center Industry.
Whether it’s:
- Skyrocketing electric bills
- Transmission line projects for data center power demands threatening private property
- Risk to water quality and quantity
- Diesel generator restrictions loosened to allow for Data Centers to rely on dirty fuel to run longer
- Or election results that prove PEOPLE are voting on the single issue of Data Centers
NOW is the time to KEEP UP the pressure on legislators!
More and more people are impacted by these threats — whether it’s YOUR home, your CHILD’S school, or the diminishing quality of life you once enjoyed — YOU CAN make a difference.
Demand accountability as our electric rates rise exponentially!
Data centers were 40% of PJM capacity costs in last auction: market monitor | Utility Dive
- Data center load accounted for $6.5 billion, or 40%, of the $16.4 billion in costs from the PJM Interconnection’s December capacity auction, according to the grid operator’s independent market monitor.
- About $6.2 billion of those costs is related to data centers that haven’t been built but could come online by PJM’s 2027/28 delivery year that begins on June 1, 2027, Monitoring Analytics, the market monitor, said in a report released Monday.
“The big picture: D.C.’s rising bills are also being driven by a force largely outside the city’s control: data center growth around the Beltway.
Massive data centers — concentrated in Northern Virginia but affecting the entire grid — consume enormous amounts of electricity, tightening supply and pushing up wholesale prices across the region.
Because D.C. relies on regional power markets and lacks space to rapidly add new generation, the city is especially exposed to those price pressures.”
Losing real jobs and sustainable long term economic job growth like Merrifield Gardens — to Data Centers.
