The Coalition to Protect Prince William County is pleased to join CABSA in their effort to raise awareness of MORE citizens being forced to give up THEIR most important investment – their property – for data center energy infrastructure. There are so many Dominion Energy infrastructure projects in Western Prince William, it is hard to keep up.

The Nokesville 230kV transmission line, 6.5 miles long, with an easement requirement of taking more than 100 feet of people’s PRIVATE property, is ALL about Data Center Power needs.  Don’t be confused by the obfuscation attempts of Dominion Energy.  Innovation Park is home to the highest concentration of data center build-out in Prince William County, and our “reliability” is being put at risk due to the unprecedented power needs of this one industry.  When Dominion Energy was recently asked to disclose an updated forecast of electrical contracts they have signed with data centers, they refused.  They claim:

  • You will continue to have dependable electric service as the Innovation Park area expands.
  • This project helps Northern Virginia meet national reliability standards.

There is no better outward manifestation of this crisis than the growing number of massive transmission line infrastructure projects slicing and dicing through private neighborhoods, farms, and small businesses.

The unprecedented power demand that the Data Center Industry is placing on our electrical grid is indisputable. Our increasing utility costs are directly linked to their insatiable appetite.

But there is a hidden, even more insidious harm happening to our families, our friends, and our neighbors. Our public utilities are exercising eminent domain to build massive transmission projects through our communities to funnel electricity to substations that power data centers. Adding salt to this gaping wound is knowing ratepayers are being forced to cover the cost of their own destruction.
