Dear Neighbors, Friends, and PWC Residents –
People over party.
That is what was required to prevail against Ann Wheeler’s divisive, exclusionary, and destructive policies in Prince William County.
Ann Wheeler lost the absentee ballots. Ann Wheeler lost the early voting. Ann Wheeler lost the in-person votes.
ANN WHEELER LOST the primary election.
It is a new day in Prince William County.
The win of Deshundra Jefferson is a game changer.
The obscene amount of money in Wheeler’s campaign was not enough to stop the people.
The Va. Elections results for the June 20 Democratic Primary, as of 06/21/23 12:49 pm, reports the number of people who voted for Ann Wheeler is 11,895. That number 11,895 is almost exactly the 11,209 number of valid PWC voter signatures required to submit the Wheeler recall. Is it coincidence – or is it fate? What do YOU think?
We are hearing concerns from the community that Ann will want to exact revenge by pushing through controversial applications, like Kline, Devlin, the Digital Gateway, Potomac Tech Park, Chuck Kuhn Hillwood Camping Park data center complex, and John Marshall Commons Tech Park.
We hope calmer heads will prevail.
We urge the supervisors who are facing general election challengers to put some distance from the losing policies of Chair Wheeler. Now is the time to take this opportunity for a course correction.
People are showing up to protect their homes, their community, and their county.
“Political strategist and former news reporter Deshundra Jefferson won a major upset in Tuesday’s primary election, defeating incumbent Ann Wheeler to win the Democratic nomination to run for chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in November. ”
“Jefferson, 47, of Montclair, won more than 52% percent of the more than 25,000 votes cast in the countywide contest, according to still unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections.”
“Jefferson garnered 13,135 votes to Wheeler’s 11,993, a difference of 1,142 votes, according to state results.”
“Jefferson will go on to compete in the Nov. 7 general election against Jeanine Lawson, who won Tuesday’s contest for the GOP nomination with 81% of the vote.”
We hope this primary election result will turn the chapter on this toxic political environment. We believe people should win elections based on the policies they advocate, not on personal attacks or the whims of big donors.
Thank you to everyone who never gave up.
Thank you to everyone who believed that their vote could make a difference. IT DID!
It’s time for people of good will to MOVE VIRGINIA FORWARD!
