There comes a time when citizens cannot stand idly by and watch their government – corrupted by greed and power – go unchallenged.
Registered county voters – from districts East to West across the county; Democrats, Republicans and Independents; from disparate cultures, races, and walks of life – are taking the necessary and bold action to exercise a most democratic process, the recall of elected leaders.
These actions are not taken lightly. But who speaks for our quality of life, our clean water, for a sustainable life in our county and protecting our national parks and history, if those we elected to positions of power are beholden only to their own personal gain, and not to the service of those who put them in office?
We will not be bullied or intimidated by those who will directly profit – from the billion-dollar data center tech corporations, to the large lot landowners hoping to cash out at the community’s expense, and the county board members ensuring they personally profit from projects they support. At a time when they are working hard to sow division, citizens are coming together to stop their abuses. We hope you will add your name to the recall petitions and talk to your neighbors!

“A Prince William County conservation group has expanded its recall effort to include Board of Supervisors Chair Ann Wheeler for her connections to the data center industry.”
“The Coalition to Protect Prince William County announced the beginning of its recall petition for Wheeler during the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.”
“Last month, the coalition announced a recall petition for Gainesville District Supervisor Pete Candland over his involvement with the controversial PW Digital Gateway proposal.”
“Citizens refuse to accept ‘cookie jar ethics’ of Wheeler and Candland, who only react when their hand is caught in the cookie jar,” the coalition said in a press release.”
“Wheeler’s recall is also tied to the digital gateway, with residents saying she stands to gain financially from the project and has not been transparent about her ties to the industry.” (Read entire article)
Prince William Residents Launch Effort to Recall Chair Ann Wheeler – Bristow Beat
“Chair Wheeler assumed office on January 1, 2020. In her first submitted Statement of Economic Interest signed on February 2, 2020, she cited 21 stock/funds valued between $5k – $50k and five stock/funds valued between $50k – $250k.”
“In the next year, Chair Wheeler’s Statement of Economic Interest cited 46 stock/funds valued between $5k – $50k, 18 stock/funds valued between $50k – $250k, and two stock/funds valued at greater than $250k.”
“This represents a 300 percent increase in her year-over-year holdings at least according to the lowest ranges. It could be much higher, depending on how much stocks/funds were purchased.”
At a minimum, Chair Wheeler increased her holdings during her first year in office by $1,275,000.00. While this can be marginally explained had she reinvested savings or gains, the other actions of 2020. However, specifically choosing to invest in data center-specific stocks and technology-focused mutual funds, all the while pushing data center projects throughout the county, lend credence to the fact that Chair Wheeler acted unethically and in violation of code.” (Read entire article)
