The Planning Office has been working hard on responding to the Board’s directive regarding the Comprehensive Plan Amendment and associated Zoning Text Amendments to incorporate and implement recommendations based on the Rural Preservation Study. We have begun to release draft documents on our project web page. The project page can be found on here: http://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/planning/Pages/Rural-Area-Plan.aspx. The page will be kept up to date through this process and include a question and answer page for the public, which will be similar to the one used during the budget process. Draft documents will continue to be uploaded onto the project page over the next week or two.
Several public meetings are scheduled throughout the County to gather public input on the draft documents in order to help guide the proposed recommendations based on community input and engagement. There is a significant amount of public participation expected, which is why they will be hosting a series of public meetings in the east, mid and western portions of the County as follows:
Public Input Meetings:
- September 17, 2018 at 7:00 pm – Colgan High School, 13833 Dumfries Road, Manassas, VA 20112
- September 24, 2018 at 7:00 pm – Battlefield High School, 15000 Graduation Drive, Haymarket, VA 20169
- September 25, 2018 at 7:00 pm – The Nokesville School, 12375 Aden Road, Nokesville, VA 20181
- September 26, 2018 at 7:00 pm – NOVA Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training, 2675 College Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22191
Content at the public meetings will be identical. We hope that the venues will allow the community to attend a session proximate to their home, however the public is invited to attend any session they desire and multiple sessions if they so choose. Please contact Rebecca Horner (RHorner@pwcgov.org, 703-792-6854) or David McGettigan (dmcgettigan@pwcgov.org, 703-792- 7189) if you have questions throughout the process. All input and recommendations are welcome!
