The State Corporation Commission has the regulatory authority to approve or deny all applications for new power lines, including the proposed 230kV Transmission Line and Substation west of the Haymarket Town Limits. Gainesville District Supervisor Pete Candland is asking citizens who oppose this transmission line project to co-sign a letter to the State Corporation Commission requesting they deny this application for all routing plans other than the “I-66 Hybrid Alternative.”
The letter also requests a formal public hearing be held in the Gainesville area, at an appropriate venue to accommodate the large number of interested citizens, to hear testimony from individual citizens on this project. This letter will be presented to the State Corporation Commission, Dominion Power, and appropriate state officials.
